my ass has been kicked

I like art class, sitting around a pile of boxes and drawing them allows one time to think about issues in one life. Here's a short list of what I remember thinking while drawing:"gee I like boxes, Ichiro nibbles on boxes- at least he doesn't pee on things, hey, Amelie- mike doesn't like it b/c it is french i think; that makes no sense, canuck[that was my cat], canuck was named for Canada's Independence day- Mike dosn't like Canadians either- I wonder if that means Mike didn't like Canuck. He was allergic to her. Boxes, boxes are boring. Gourds, now those aren't as boring as boxes but boring enough to make me very....sleepy....ooops joe! [art teacher]. Clean lines, I draw nice clean lines- I need to do laundry. I wanna sleep but first drink Mt.Dew- Kiss that plan goodbye. I finished my math homework! Goodie this means I have the night off *finally*"

Soooo yeah. See what I produce when I have spare time?

Anyway, this semester is a killer already, but hell I knew what I was getting into when I signed up last April. Japanese class has the heaviest work load for being only twice a week. This week we went from reading "Obasute Yama" in hiragana w/ a few kanji spliced in to reading an Asahi Newspaper article (jammed full of kanji!!! T_T). That's...not right. No middle ground? It just sounds unprepared.

On Grad school side, I have enlisted the help of two of my profs, especially Prof. Stoeltje who is an expert on Rituals in Ghana. She likes the idea of me doing the subject of death rituals and beliefs in East Asia. Sounds gruesome but fascinating to me. However finding a Prof that will be my adviser may prove to be the harder part. Whee for e-mail and the internet.

Of course all this research and work just makes me think about my future all the more, since I'm working for a good one. *sigh* I just hope all this work is worth it, and the waiting too.
